Yours To Keep

Don't give me your heart, don't give me yourself
You are yours to keep
I'd rather have us than the whole of you
I'd rather have talk than sleep

So speak and I'll listen; listen, I'll speak
Finally you're here after a lifetime
Finally you're with me, lovely
Finally we, too, can let our light shine

I used to write poems for idiots
For people who couldn't feel joy
Now I write poems for you, beautiful
Wonderful, kind, lovely boy

At this point I've given up trying to focus
You're the only one I want to think about
I've given up my life for a better one
Even though they've all got their doubts

This is a bit rough by way of poetic quality, but it's a nice little literary doodle that I thought I'd share :)
