Blissfully Ignorant
Is it really a lie
If you believe it?
Have you ever planned the outcome
And failed to achieve it?
What do you do
If you know a secret?
If the truth hurts the person worse
Than it does if you keep it?
You’ve tried before
But the person doesn’t want to know.
She’ll take it out on you
If proof you were to show.
Deep down she knows but
She wants to keep her feelings inside,
Because if she’s confronted with the truth
Then she can no longer hide,
Behind the cloak of ignorance
That she puts on as a disguise,
And her sense of loyalty
He continues to misguide.
She won’t face the facts
Unless she sees him with someone else
So is it his betrayal
If you’re lying to yourself?
Can you see my dilemma?
Too her, the truth won’t set her free.
So I hold on to the worst kept secret,
And let her blissful ignorance be!
If you believe it?
Have you ever planned the outcome
And failed to achieve it?
What do you do
If you know a secret?
If the truth hurts the person worse
Than it does if you keep it?
You’ve tried before
But the person doesn’t want to know.
She’ll take it out on you
If proof you were to show.
Deep down she knows but
She wants to keep her feelings inside,
Because if she’s confronted with the truth
Then she can no longer hide,
Behind the cloak of ignorance
That she puts on as a disguise,
And her sense of loyalty
He continues to misguide.
She won’t face the facts
Unless she sees him with someone else
So is it his betrayal
If you’re lying to yourself?
Can you see my dilemma?
Too her, the truth won’t set her free.
So I hold on to the worst kept secret,
And let her blissful ignorance be!
