A hundred lawyers

A hundred lawyers protest to stop police,
Two ministers defend the malfeasance
Of Hindi stalwarts; they want quick release,
As do thousands of marchers; no offence
Intended to the ponies in the wood,
Or the sweet eight year old who braved the chill;
Her abduction, planned months before, 'just' would
Have terrified, but those men chose to kill;
And, one week later, Asifa was found,
Drugged, raped and raped again for long, dark hours;
And burned and struck; left dead upon the ground
By temple keeper, police and other powers;
Tell me all those, who protest city rapes:
Is innocence so lost? The Punjab waits.

"Politics apart, this is horrible that some people would see this horrendous crime through a religious prism to gain some mileage. It's a new low and I don't know if we can stoop any lower after this,"
