One, a Couple, a Few and Some
Describing units of measure
We quantify the exact
And estimate the unknown
A peck, a poke, a passel, and a plethora
A furlong, a firkin, a fortnight and a Furman
A cord, two shakes of a lamb’s tail, a shot, and a parsec
A hectare, a nibble, a Hoppus foot, and a dog year
A bushel, a New York minute, a bunch and a dose
We live in a world where eleven is eleven
And thus should always be eleven
Where one is one, a couple is two
A few is three to five
And some is six or more
We live in a world where
When the numbers don’t add up
Something is wrong
We live in a world where
Sometimes good enough
Is good enough
And where close enough
For government work
Is just about perfect
We quantify the exact
And estimate the unknown
A peck, a poke, a passel, and a plethora
A furlong, a firkin, a fortnight and a Furman
A cord, two shakes of a lamb’s tail, a shot, and a parsec
A hectare, a nibble, a Hoppus foot, and a dog year
A bushel, a New York minute, a bunch and a dose
We live in a world where eleven is eleven
And thus should always be eleven
Where one is one, a couple is two
A few is three to five
And some is six or more
We live in a world where
When the numbers don’t add up
Something is wrong
We live in a world where
Sometimes good enough
Is good enough
And where close enough
For government work
Is just about perfect
