Fool For Love

I’d always believed in love,
I was born a romantic.
Unfortunately I’d also believed in people,
And I thought I knew just the trick.
You see what made sense to me,
Was I thought that if I could be,
Every fantasy for a woman,
She would be every fantasy for me.
I mean I’m not selfish in nature.
Shallow? A bit, but not selfish.
You see I don’t expect to get something I’m not willing to give, in that sense, I’m selfless!
I’ll give everything I have to the one I love,
I just expect the same in return.
I mean I think that’s logical,
But the more I live, I learn.
I thought Love was a partnership
Where two people would work as one!
But Love, is a battlefield, and you better bring your gun!
I never believed it had to be that way,
Even though I watched my parents constantly fight.
I thought I had the answers, that would allow me to escape their plight.
But Love, is the ultimate cruel teacher,
Of hard lessons to be learned.
It seems like the more that I give to Love,
The more times I get burned!
But Love, is an emotional game,
And the more you try to bring logic in,
The more you find out you’re fighting a losing battle, that’s impossible to win!
So, either you let yourself go in Love,
Or you keep starting over with someone new.
Expecting to get a different result,
You can be Love’s...
Or Insanity’s fool!
