Ain’t A Poem
Stop sayin she ain’t a poem
one that doesn’t want to be read
she doesn’t understand her beauty
the words are mingled in her head
She is more than her pain
stronger than the sacrifices she’s made
the hurt doesn’t need to be rushed
like a skimmed over page
Don’t tell me she ain’t a poem
it doesn’t need to be said
her power deserves recognition
and every word she says.

Truly enjoyed this poem. It brought back thoughts of my grandmother, how she struggled to keep the family milk farm going after my grandfather passed, while at the same time raising 6 of 9 children that lived to adulthood. This does proud the strength of those that have gone before us and the ones today that still bear many hardships both physical and mental, never stopping to consider it anything other than a fact of living.
Thank you for bringing back those wonderful memories I have of the many conversations I had with her regarding the way to approach life.
