The Lady In The Mirror
There once was a lady
who became trapped in a mirror
her vanity her down fall
she needed a wake up call.
Believing she was sheer perfection
one day while primping and preening
she was sucked into a portal of darkness
stuck behind the looking glass
for being in love with her own likeness.
Where she could no longer
see her reflection
this was fortunate for her
for in this realm her face was hideous
just like her insidious nature.
She could still gaze at the world
through the mirror
groaning inside herself
at all the beautiful men and women she saw there.
It shone their beauty within
while she remained a thin
wraith of herself.
She would tap and scream
at the looking glass
hoping to get there attention
but they never heard her or saw her reflection.
Then one day
a man saw what he thought was a phantom
after a thousand years trapped
true beauty in the lady had manifested.
The man fell in love with the lovely phantom
gently kissed the mirror and freed her
her former vain self would have seen him as unbecoming
but gazing at his soul from the other side of the mirror
she saw him as handsome.
He told her he had dreamed of such a lass
for what seemed like forever
a true beauty from within and without.
Her vanity left behind in the darkness
she was finally in love
no longer enamored by her own likeness.
