No Fairy-Tale Ending
I keep waiting, but you never come back to me. How can you come back, when you've gone where I cannot? Our souls met several eternities ago; I knew you without a question that you were mine. You knew me too, so long ago when you were the Knight, and I was your Lady.
Our love story was epic, better than any Fairy Tale dreamt up by The Brothers Grimm, as sparkling and glowing as the moonlight on the waves of a faraway sea. We wove the story together: I was your Vampyre Princess, you my Hybrid Lover. Just a silly fairy tale, made up as we went along, but it was still our story, a love song left unwritten.
Other times, your words lulled me to sleep against your strong chest, your arms wrapped round me in sweet circle of rest. The sun shone brightly through the dense leaves of trees overhead, as we talked often of the future ahead. We fought and wrestled playfully together in the sunlit valley near your castle, which one day was to be our home.
The death of my Knight came unexpectedly one softly dawning Spring morning, just as the hoarfrost was melting away. You said goodbye the only way that you could; at the back of a misty dream your eyes met mine, sad and wistful at the same time.
Your darling Vampyre Princess, mourning the loss of her Knight, left the safety of her home in the cherry blossom tree and ran faster than lightning, to the cliffs by the sea. Laying down on a large jutting rock, and screaming your name until my throat dried out and began to hurt.
You had sworn you'd never leave me, "but you did," I screamed. "You lied to me!"
Deep down inside, my broken heart knew, you'd have never left; you didn't want to. My throat constricted, so hard I couldn't breathe; blood left its distinctive coppery taste on the furthest part of my tongue. No stake driven with the force of Goliath behind it, nor twisted as if by machine into my heart's very core, would ever hurt as badly as loosing you. My darling Dark Knight, my Soul Mate, my lover, I loved you more than any other.
Life, if it can be called such, moves on at snail's pace, although it's jokingly called a race. I never felt so alive as I did with you; never felt so loved and secure. How I long to be wrapped once again in your embrace, hear your deep, soft laughter as we talk before the warm fireplace. Now I only have memories of our time together, and they grow frighteningly dim as the days drag by.
At times, very rarely, in fitful, restless dreams, do I get to rest in your strong arms, hear your voice and see your face. Dreams that leave me searching for you upon waking. Fate brought us together, then ripped us apart, leaving a pitch back, bottomless hole in my heart.
My spirit cries in anguished agony, shattered beyond repair, only one thing will stop my despair.
When we meet behind again behind the moon, when my time comes to leave this earth, and walk hand in hand with you toward the Light shining before us, only then will my heart be mended, my spirit soaring once again.
I love you eternally.
