Pain To Fame

Donald "Duck" Matthews of the Heartbeats had to experience pain
For him to create all of the great songs that brought him fame
I can honestly say the same and can totally relate
My most creative works derived from painful places

In many cases it's risen up out of my empathic prison
Because I no longer view the world through the same prism
It's jism is dripping in the streets following the trails of blood
So it's either I pick up my pen or start smoking some bud

Cause brotherly love seems to have vanished without a trace
While the Commander In Chief proclaims he's making America great
While right smack dab in all of our faces
Bodies keep dropping all over the place

This place is going to turn into the Middle East
Cause peace is no where out in them city streets
The police are some of the biggest hired thugs
But their shit just gets swept under Persian rugs
