The Poet and the Pen
The poet picks up his pen and from his heart he starts to write
The secret dreams and desires only spoken of in the dead of night
He bares his soul with each word written on the page
Where honesty is born and truth comes of age
The poet’s feelings reach out from the page to the reader’s eye
As if they were the reader’s own and so makes the reader cry
Writing of things not yet dreamed of and words so rarely spoken
Once the poet’s pen is laid down the dreamer’s spell is broken
The poet having shared an innermost thought or feeling
Soothing for the reader’s soul the poem offers a type of healing
The poet satisfied his desire to write has now been fed
The reader also satisfied by another good poem read
