RECOURSE
They did not understand
They never will understand
My broken soul, and smile so foul
They ask you know
And when they do in my heart a lump grow
But I tell them
That I saw you in a stream
It could have been a dream
Though so uncensored
You were perfect
A magnificent air flowing around you
The right friends
The right career
Your free life enticed me, And I fell
The kind of fall no one ever wants to rise
I danced to your music
Got lost to it
Even when the beat stopped,I kept dancing
The silence of the beat and my un-inspired amateur dance
Broke me free
I saw you then
I saw the sadness in your eyes
Heard the loneliness in your beat and longing in your voice
I felt the coldness in your touch
I became aware of the faults in your perfect life
I saw it all
How imperfect you were
I saw the raw flesh enveloped loosely in your dead skeleton
That moment spun in my head,
Hovered in my brain like a spirit body from the alleys of death
Reaching into my corsage with its grotesque shadow
I should have been scared
I should have said something like farewell
But I was caught up in some form of aphonia
Devoid of trepidation
The venom you spewed and the shedding off of the façade you'd always worn
Drew me more to you
I was ready to be the broken one
I gave you my pristine soul
And I walked away with your battered one
They never will understand
So when they ask
I tell them
"I fell in love with an angel through whose eyes you see me as a villain."
They never will understand
My broken soul, and smile so foul
They ask you know
And when they do in my heart a lump grow
But I tell them
