Silent Remedy
What can I say
When the well has run
Dry
When there aren’t any words
To offer you shelter
From this storm
When there aren’t any words
To bring her back
When there aren’t any words
To sooth
Your evident ache
...
We are the ones
That are supposed to pick you up
We are the ones
That you’re supposed to lean on
When the weight
Of the word
Proves too heavy
For ONE
We are the ones
That are supposed to cast
The monsters out
And
Hold the light
...
I’m the one
That’s supposed to offer
A concoction of words
Summoned
Simmered
And
Served sweet from my cauldron
For remedy
I’m the one
That’s supposed tell you
That everything
Will be okay
But
You’re the one
That has to live this
Everyday
And
Deserve far more
Than generic condolences
With the best of intentions
I’m the one
That’s NOT supposed to say:
It gets better
Or
She’s in a better place
...
SHE
Is gone
And
Despite my efforts
ALL
Of my failed attempts
At reaching for allusive lines
There are NO words to say
To ease this pain
And
It breaks me
That
It breaks YOU
...
SHE
Should be here
...
Tonight
The sky is dim
But
There are stars
Across the heavens
And
They shine their light
NOT
For us less
But
For you
MORE
...
You
Are strong
You
Are her daughter
You
Are the keeper
Of things left behind
But
Not forgotten
And
That is where
She lives on;
Within the wounds
That will never seal
But will
In time
Begin to heal
...
I wish I could sever this pain
And
Lock it away
Or
Sooth you
With promising words
That go down like honey
Smooth the broken parts
Of your heart
But I cannot
...
However
Words are not
Always
How love is spoken
So instead:
We will sit beside you
As we look to the stars
That shine tonight
For YOU
Even if only
To lift your gaze
Again
For a moment
WE
Can sit in silence
Until YOU
Summon the words
YOU want to say
And
We are here
To listen
To the only words
Needed said
And
When the world chants
That it will be okay
We
Will be here
When it’s not
When the well has run
Dry
When there aren’t any words
To offer you shelter
From this storm
When there aren’t any words
