Light Of Day
Steely sky shedding bullets of rain
Hurt my face as a walk on the shoreline
Waves crashing up onto the stony beach
I look ahead but you’re just out of reach
The sky splits open with lightning bolts
Brighter than day for a flash
The wind blows cold and I feel the spray
Tearing up onto the land
You seem to walk faster than I can run
My lungs burn for breath but you’re too far gone
You can’t hear me when I utter my cries
The flashes burn the bruise colored sky
Somewhere in my mind I know this is just a dream
It doesn’t stop me from still wanting to scream
I know I’ll never catch up and you’ll never hear
I want to wake up but I won’t I fear
So the steel sky spits its bullet rain on the land
And you step lightly while I can hardly move from where I stand
My voice lost in the sound of the cacophony
You’ll never know how much I want you just to hear or see
And I call your name and wave my arms
And you just keep on walking away
I cry out of in frustration but the wind whips away the sound
You just walk on and don’t look around
At all
Isn’t that just the way in dreams
Nobody hears you even when you scream
But the things you can’t have in that nighttime place
Are still right here in the light of day
Still here in the light of day
