Time Is The Enemy
“People are dying
Who have never died before”
My dad used to say
Now that he’s one of them it’s not funny anymore
My mom had delusions
Just before she died
As sad as it was
I still never cried
Taught to know that
Everyone will leave
Ending up (deep)underground
It doesn’t matter what you believe
“Do not go quietly into that good night”
A wise man once said
But no matter how much we disdain it
We will all end up dead
As time is the enemy
To all of us, you see
It will take you to your funeral
For your friends and family to see
But until the time
That soldier takes your soul
Life is for the living
Until the living takes its toll
Maybe I should fear
Maybe I should cry
Maybe I should tremble
Because no one wants to die
But I’ll do none of that
I will do the best I can do
And be the best that I can be
Until time takes me too
Who have never died before”
My dad used to say
Now that he’s one of them it’s not funny anymore
My mom had delusions
Just before she died
As sad as it was
I still never cried
Taught to know that
Everyone will leave
