Cakes and cooking smells

There is a lady sweet and kind
sleeping from her labours
her children fast in sleep
cakes and cooking smells
that speak of love and joy.
Joy that such a pair
sleep sound in trust.
A mother's love,oft times
unspoken,silent,cherished,
'Though I am far
I hear their breath.
Oh!Moon cast upon us
your silver light,
keep them safe from harm
high above their home
as you do mine.
I too shall sleep tonight
embraced in memories
of birthdays passed,
umbilical and close.
