In the movie of our adolescence
You were dashing
We were running
That night in the park
The policeman approached us
You ran around the slide
Stood in front of me
Faced him
You never left me
I didn’t have the sense
To be frightened
You always took good care of me
Our friendship transcendent

I was afraid
Of our connection.

Now
I don’t have the sense
To be frightened
You wanna talk about sense?
Your skin…it smells exactly the same
You’re a time capsule in human form
And so am I
In the sitcom of our adulthood
I only pay attention to the laugh track
And the catchy theme song
Like I should have
Years ago.
