In that dream of
Mansions
Ghosts
Four walls and a fine roof
The kitchen paper
Creeping like vines all the way to the
water closet
Drown Spiffy the Goldfish carcass in
the porcelain throne
It’s just burial at sea
Human life means more
to some
Wag a turkey leg at a
Renaissance Faire
You call yourself fairy fae
But you are thirty two years old
Baby bae
I know something about the moon
The stars
The sun

May they bacon sizzle
Watch the wide world
Open Sesame

I.
No one would describe either of us as
Carefree
Although I have been called a free spirit
How free can a spirit be, carving ghost laments in her arms like trees
With an icicle
Perfect weapon to cover a crime they say, it melts
And rational people don’t believe in specters
I go to my happy place
Attempt to make a daisy chain, but daisies shouldn’t be chained
Lie in the tall grass
I see my best friend once a year
But in my mind she is forever finding the elusive clover
In Ireland, like a soap commercial
And when I die...

We watched silent films
Collapsed with kisses into your bed
My heart is a blinking, staggering thing
I am humbled
I am energized
I did the math
I added us up

of my own intuition
This time I am not just letters received,
I am also the envelope
Wet purple ink
Paper cuts
The acid lick of a forever stamp
Keep my postcards with you always

How you hold out on reading them
Savor them

Where we can talk about Goethe and Plath and
which one of us is actually

Spent Saturday night with
Dionysus at a wine tasting
Neither of us likes to spit
Spiteful Hera she’s a
buzz kill
Doesn’t like when I
make love knots in
Zeus’s beard

went off and morphed into
something else
Remembering my nights with Thor
