Nowhere
Billy was a little boy who lived each day in hell
Mommy needed her daily fix and daddy was in jail
And each day when he would leave his house to go to school
In dirty rags, carrying holey bags he felt like such a fool
The saddest sight of his plight is that no one tried to care
All the kids, they hated him and to adults he wasn’t there
He always lived this way in sorrow and pain until one day it all came to a head
He walks into his home at 15 years old and finds his mother dead
Needles in her arms, he’s in a state of alarm and he cannot comprehend
Why did God have to be so cruel to a life that was innocent?
Could it be fate? Maybe a sad mistake for a life that was never meant.
And look! It’s so sad, the boy is now mad
But slightly
In fact it’s just a crack.
No matter how small, he knew something had changed
As he stood there staring at his mothers remains
All he knew was he had to get away
From this den of death or his life would decay
I’m sorry mother; I don’t know what to say
Maybe destiny and death are the same
And for him to remain who could he blame?
So he went out and took the car keys
Thinking that this would be a faster way to flee
But in his haste and his rage he couldn’t see
That he lived in the center of a busy city
Now he’s the cause of catastrophe
As he crashed the car into another on the street
A 10 car pileup of flaming agony
And the cause of it all, a lost boy named Billy.
But what a surprise! Young Billy didn’t die
He awoke with his eyes to the sky
Thrown from the car, he was laying beside
The dead body of some other guy
Burned black balls the pits of his eyes
Staring at Billy, he began to cry
Laying there with tears in his eyes, screaming up at the sky “why, god, why?”
Then he noticed the ancient wooden sign
His city was gone, he was in the countryside
And when he stood up on his feet, he couldn’t understand
What was once a city of people is now just empty land
No trees or cars or shops or bars just a signpost up ahead
And as he traversed to the signpost with a stillness in the air
All cut, bruised and missing his shoes and smelling burning hair
The signpost spoke with silent sounds, telling him that he was near a town
And that he had best be prepared, for he had found the town Nowhere
Dana’s life was plagued with strife from the time of her birth
Her mother died as she tried to bring her child onto this earth
And as time, it rolled along Dana’s life it got worse
Daddy only ever really loved mommy and to him the child was a curse
So what does he do? Takes it out on you
Forces you to suffer at the hands of abuse
Using you as his only excuse
Dana didn’t know what to do.
It happened like it always does in the middle of the night
Dana was awakened by a sick and twisted sight
Her father forced himself on her she couldn’t even fight
Escape the only option or to suffer all her life
So as her dad was leaving her room
After he finished his deed
She grabbed a pen and ran him through
His eyes began to bleed
“If you can’t see, you can’t hurt me”
Into his face she screamed
But sadly her revenge was a little too extreme
The pen she shoved into his eye was deeper than it seemed
In her rage she killed him so she had to flee the scene
The outcome of her actions she could never have foreseen
For you can never right a wrong by making it more obscene
So she ran outside of her home
With nowhere to go she never felt so alone
Aimlessly she walked for miles unknown
Until she fell asleep on the side of the road
And look! It’s so strange
The girl is deranged
Just slightly
Let’s say her view is askew
After she awoke, what did she see?
Her city was gone, just empty scenery
Alone on the road surrounded by debris
The wreckage of cars but not a single body
And ahead of her in the distance it seems
Someone was walking away from the scene
So she ran to catch up to the shape
But the closer she got, it was further away
Until she came to a large open space
With a broken sign and a word written there
Terrified, scared and without a prayer
For she had found a town called nowhere
There are many different stories but they always end the same
When we run from the truth and we have no one to blame
The flame consumes our lives yet we still try to declaim
When we put it in a frame but then we turn away
And if we try to flee we cannot flee ourselves
For we create a space inside
It’s heaven or it’s hell
But if we do not see it then we can never tell
That we are trapped in nothing
And in nowhere we will dwell
Mommy needed her daily fix and daddy was in jail
And each day when he would leave his house to go to school
In dirty rags, carrying holey bags he felt like such a fool
The saddest sight of his plight is that no one tried to care
All the kids, they hated him and to adults he wasn’t there
