Here's to the boy
Where is that little girl
That used to sneak in books
To read
When she finished her school work?
Where is that little girl
Who was so rebellious
That she wanted to start a rebellion
With bibles?
Where is that little girl
That used to eat the sand from outside?
Where is that little girl
That found any way she could
To communicate
With the ones she loved?
Let me tell you
That little girl
Has been replaced
With a little boy
Who has really always been a boy
Who likes to write
Recreationally.
Here's to the boy
Who still likes to read
But doesn't have the time.
Who likes to draw
When he isn't writing.
Who loves pationatly
And patiently.
Who found out who he is
And is proud of his identity.
Who is generous
And kind
To all who he meets.
Who can't say 'no'
When someone asks for his help.
Here's to the boy
Who made it through his depression
With a fake smile
Plastered to his face
Until it became
Real.
Here's to the boy
Who is misgendered
By everyone
Yet still
Uses the pronouns others want him
To use for them.
Here's to the boy who pushes through
Each day
Without a single complaint
Because he knows
It could be worse
It could be much worse.
Here's to the boy
Who smiles like a dork
Whenever someone calls him a guy.
Here's to the boy
Who is living his life
The only way he knows how;
One day at a time.
