The Company of Misery
You are miserable company
You lay and cry and complain
You always go back to the pain
Letting insecurities ruin a perfectly good day
Because you like to do things the hard way
Lurking in the past where bad things should stay
Always waiting for someone to make your day
But in misery is where you choose to stay
You still haven’t learned that you have to make the day your own
Even if that means all alone,
Even if they’re all you’ve ever known
You’re in denial that the love isn’t gone
I can’t understand why you drive yourself mad
Why you force yourself sad
Is insanity your remedy?
Do you worship its divinity?
Commit pain to every memory
Plenty of good moments gone to waste
Because the past you still want to chase
No longer will I dwell in your miserable company
Ill search for a bright soul that wants to have fun with me
One who won’t let rivers run dry, one who’ll give the future a try
One who won’t let me thirst or starve, one who won’t cut open my scars
One whose mind isn’t locked behind bars, one whose eyes are fixed on the stars
One who pleasures in pleasure and does not pleasure in pain
Who doesn’t linger on tear drop stains and doesn’t feast of sorrow’s remains
I pray you crawl outta your gutter
And empty the clutter
Find that which gives your heart a flutter
And joy finds you climatically and a change ensues drastically
It’s time to move purposefully and I’ll spend no more time in the company of misery
You lay and cry and complain
You always go back to the pain
Letting insecurities ruin a perfectly good day
Because you like to do things the hard way
Lurking in the past where bad things should stay
Always waiting for someone to make your day
But in misery is where you choose to stay
You still haven’t learned that you have to make the day your own
Even if that means all alone,
Even if they’re all you’ve ever known
You’re in denial that the love isn’t gone
I can’t understand why you drive yourself mad
Why you force yourself sad
Is insanity your remedy?

No longer will I dwell in your miserable company
