Lost dreams

Out on the ocean,
Travelling place to place,
From fancy motels,
To Barns that make you feel like you're living in hell.
Trying to find that jewel that will win mi amor's heart.

LAND! HO!, the crew yells,
The island of lost dreams,
Jewels like glass,
light up bright as beams as the sun touches it.
We're finally at our destination,
The crew prowls after the jewels,
But the diamond I seek,
Is bloody and lies with souls that are meek.

There it is, red as the blood that flows through my veins,
Stuck in a pool of lost dreams, souls,
Skulls in the mud with a terrified face in a frame.
I took it up, dared to look it in the eyes,
There inside an image of my love,
My beloved prize,
What it needed for me to have my love,
 I could not give,
The curse of a life of adultery and sin.

I'd have to give up the thing that led me on this journey,
I'd rather give up my soul,
 than my love for her,
And wonder in the underworld for all eternity.

Author's Note
this piece is a tail of a journey for love,
All the trials one has to go through to show another they love them,
Others seek out glory and fame
But the character in this piece only seeks to please his love...
