Trolls: the melody just grips
An ominous low tone sets the troll scene:
The cellos and string basses then begin -
Plucked pizzicato style - fresh and clean,
The melody just grips, as each fine string
Joins in as the bassoons accompany;
The music seems to sneak its way around -
The accent on some notes will never be
As pronounced as the march and heartbeats pound,
So monsters find the pitch horrendous now -
So high - as oboes play and the woodwind
Section turns as one: intense, high brow;
But the excitement's mounting and you find
The timpani and cymbals will exclaim,
Repeating blows and thrusts (then my troll came).
(And rolled away to hear that final chord
Before he dragged me cave-wards - my reward!)
