destiny

     
the mystical ocean's waves      
crashed into my reverie      
infusing with thoughts of the universe      
     
then in a hushed tone spoke to me      
it told me of my spirit journey      
& how he was a part of it      
     
bringing to memory the time      
its mighty expanse almost claimed me      
in a seductive tone      
it whispered how he was taken with my soul      
& wanted to keep me for his own      
     
but the moon spoke up      
saying I was already taken      
being groomed for an ancient deity      
     
flavored with pain      
so I would learn gentleness      
with pleasure so I would know his touch      
     
the ocean grudgingly washed me to shore      
& held my face down in the sands      
symbolic of the world      
that one day the Earth would know me      
     
the sea calls to me      
the forests hear me      
where ocean meets redwoods      
you will find me
