Princess Dies-A-Lot

There once was a princess, whom Death followed around
Death was her shadow, her footsteps, the sound of her regal coughs
And everyone around saw Death hovering in her wake, everyone but her
And a knight loved her tenderly, but he too saw

Songs around the kingdom
Spoke of Princess Dies-A-Lot
Of her worsening symptoms
And her not-so-brave lover Lancelot

Her long black hair, his undying passion,
Their fairytale of lust and modernity
But no good came from their union
And I shall tell you their story :

Is this a shadow in the corner of my eyes ?
Is it a shadow, or a sign of your demise ?
One of these is too awful to dismiss
Forgive me if my tongue slips
'Cause love and worry only cause excess in me
And the stress is too much to accept, So God forgive me, Princess !

She underestimates herself
So what if she has an imaginary friend ?
It's not like there's anyone else
Anyone who's try to help

- But Princess, the Death at your door
Will finish you, will finish me !
- What you say is so silly
It's your rudeness that scares me more !

Death can't be vanquished in a day
And everytime Dies-A-Lot danced
'Twas two steps closer, one step away
Never far from the Ankou's glance

She tied nooses instead of knots
She swayed as she hanged... the laundry
But she said nothing to the anguished Lancelot
Save for “I'm fine, stop yelling at me !”

This cannot go on, he says
To slay Death itself the knight resolves
He severs its head, holds it high
And in his hand he holds the head of his beloved

The knight awakes from his dream
With no blood on his hands
In his shoes, what would you feel ?
He made a choice, and was not seen again.
