The 11:35 To Phoenix
My I love you's lay crumpled in your hand
as if to say,
"I'm sorry
but it's just not enough.."
( Since when was love not enough? )
& I struggle to wipe the fog from the windshield
til I notice it's just the pain in my breath painting the glass
I wasn't aware I was still breathing..
( God why am I still breathing.. )
How could I ever expect you to be mine
when your soul was meant to be free
Far too beautiful for this world..
( I would never pin your wings down )
My fingers tremble dialing your number
"Hello, you've reached the rest of my life. I'm sorry I don't have time for your
love right now but please leave your broken heart at the beep & I'll be sure to get back to you when its convenient to me."
BEEP
Silence never sounded so sweet..
