Passionate Pirate

Every day of a life sentence
I built walls
From my misery.
Reinforced the walls
With hope.
Politely requested my demons to
Become my gaurd.

Suddenly you appear,
Strutting right through my defenses,
Acting like they are insignificant.

As if it didn't take
Years to build
Layer by layer
Using my
Tears
Pain
Sorrow
Anger
Betrayal
Shame
Like glue

Believing no one would be
Capable of storming
My cattle;
Of penetrating deep
Into my soul.

Failing to think I would ever be
Shook down to my core.
Believing in my unremarkablness.
Trusting the very demons
Who are the
Source of my dysfunction.
Thinking becoming invisible
Would be safe.

Despite it all you accomplished all
without a weapon.
Leaving me questioning if my
Castle is a sanctuary.
Because...

You brought to my attention that
Its nothing more than a
Lonesome hell.

Finding myself in
Desperate need of your hand.
A need buried deep
I didn't realize it existed.

Then like a ghost you appeared
Giving my soul peace in
Friendship and love.

Pleading for you to
Please don't go?
Your not striking me as
much for a trash person, and
I refuse to believe those
Who claimed I'm just trash.

Thinking  you dig for treasure
Like a pirate,
Plundering
Taking what's there.
No apologies
Just passionate savage.
Its sexy as hell.
In a disturbed way

Author's Note
Written about my relationship with my husband. At the time I was trying hard to figure out what went wrong. It wasn't until I finally succeeded in getting away alive that I saw all his subtle ways to manipulate and control me.
