Plagiarist

Just think about it for a second
before you copy and paste.
The chances are you're stealing
from a nobody of the poetic realm.
The chances are no one will ever know.

There is also the chance that
an email will sit in my inbox
from a publisher.
An email with a link
to my work, apparently written
by a DJ PENNROCK.
No offense to him or his picture,
but I doubt he possesses the depth.

Still, I suppose there is
an element of flattery,
that soon dies quickly
as I wait for a long
drawn out series of unwanted contact
to reach a conclusion
before the publishers carry on.

And think, Mr rocker of pens,
if they don't,
I'll have to write something
you could never write
all over again
in the hope that I can continue
in this almost reward-free fight.

Just remember before you copy and paste
that this is an almost impossible game.
We struggle, half drunk with hopelessness,
we do not need the lesser minded
making it any worse for us.
