Portrait Of Maggie Anne
Vincent and Pablo give Maggie Anne fits
She resents all the roses in bloom
And I pray to her name immortalized in blood
On the walls of my cardboard tomb
Her scholarly knowledge of Christ and Mohammed
Sharing a drink at the well
Is captured in landscapes and framed in lament
On the walls of my vacant cell
The castanet rhythm of her rosary call
From a coffin ship lost in the pages
Raises the ghosts of saints from the grave
To collect from the peasants their wages
She resents all the roses in bloom
And I pray to her name immortalized in blood
On the walls of my cardboard tomb
Her scholarly knowledge of Christ and Mohammed
Sharing a drink at the well
Is captured in landscapes and framed in lament
On the walls of my vacant cell
The castanet rhythm of her rosary call
From a coffin ship lost in the pages
Raises the ghosts of saints from the grave
To collect from the peasants their wages
