Lights.
I have always been a fan of pretty lights.
The ones with the brightest shine had always been favoured by the other girls,
But not me.
I find comfort in the lights that are dim,
The lights with a beautiful flicker that light up dark little ally ways.
I have seen many beautiful lights,
But none had caught my eye like this one streetlight had.
It stood almost alone on a path of darkness,
it had a flicker like one I had never seen and would constantly go back and forth between on and off.
I was drawn to the light like a moth would be,
I just couldn’t stay away.
The light had always been so dark,
But the closer I got to the light the brighter it became.
Finally, I reached the light.
I wrapped my arms around it and it glown brighter than I have ever seen it glow before.
I felt warm in its presence,
A type of warmth I have never felt before.
For once I felt safe.
But then the light started to buzz,
Indicating a dangerous change.
Before I knew it, the light exploded
And the glass from the bulb all came crashing down on me.
The light that had once lit up my life,
Had finally left me in the dark.
The ones with the brightest shine had always been favoured by the other girls,
But not me.
