The Day The World Changed
It was much like
a barbecue
orange font tinsel
wrapping updates
in daily news
feeding lists and comments
like an addiction to the flames
Knew it was no good
looking for the next dealer,
claiming knowledge
in the craft
Swapping a read for a red
or sometimes
"I've read"
Then heavens opened
it rained
and rained
Poured acidic
dirty atmospheric
water
to the fire that kept
wood alive
On that day
it became selfish
It was how I feel
about layout
stanzas
topic
and title
On that day
it was never again
a egocentric dream
for space
The words meant something
writing became
a play
A book left open
on the coffee table
tray
