Inventory

my sinister hands
have overextended
their reach
to grasp nothing

the air up here
literally hurts
my face

lost an eye
and broke most
of my front teeth
in my preteens

but I had fun

besides, I
learned lessons
that I could've learned
no other way

I was cocky back then

26, and I'm still broke
lost nearly everyone
that I hold dear

but this world
won't break me yet

I curse your sadistic God
with every other breath
and I don't really care
for most things,

but
at the end of the day,
I take inventory of my life
and I am grateful

not for an easy life,
but for the strength
to survive a difficult one
