WHO SHOULD MAKE FIRST MOVE?
When in one to one company,
And hearts both warmed by the fancy,
Who should make first move? Is it he,
Or should the first move come from she?
Old fashioned may say it's the man
(Call it God's/evolution's plan)
Who is meant to initiate
The move towards gaining his mate.
"Faint heart never won fair lady"
I hear my fellows say to me,
Who were brought up in older time
When being 'forward' was no crime.
The 'equal opportunity'
Mantra may be the blanche carte
For women to be first to try
Out the man who has caught their eye.
Old fashioned sorts might say only
Harlots dare take such liberty,
Forcing body onto body
To get a hook up so quickly.
"Sex harassment" has now come in
To make a man's approach feel sin
For those who fear a "don't do that".
It knocks the instinct almost flat.
All I'll say is, as for me
It matters not if he or she
Should be the one to push the cue,
To say - polite - "I fancy you."
