Are You Happy?
The odds stack up against us.
But we undressed each other anyway,
Knowing they scolded us from behind closed doors.
Love is war...
Unfolded shirts hang neatly from the the bed posts like flags flying in honor of our triumph the night before.
"Are you happy?" He asks me.
That same old question lingering on his sex laced breath,
stares at me in tiring eyes awaiting the answer to coincide.
Look into the pools of my irises,
do you see your reflection set to rest in them as you slowly ebb to slumber still swaying between my glistening thighs?
Happiness is the way you so thoughtfully think to ask,
Knowledge of knowing my smile matters
"I love you"
So fluently spoken,
in familiar tone
and we can rest one inside the other,
the other entangling one,
knowing...
Happiness is drenched and sugar coated in our pillow talk...
That happiness lives in closed eyelids,
skin close to flesh,
And the unspoken, unneeded words in our smiles....
Sighs....
"Yes I'd say I'm happy in this."
Laughs...
"Your ears are cold."
"I love you"
"I know"
I feel it in the air...
In my lungs...
On my skin...
Eager kisses fed to my lips,
Lips brushing my neck...
"Hello Happiness."
"I need you."
"I want you."
Absorb me in your chest as I so hold you to mine...
And know my love...
I am yours just as surely as...
You are mine.
But we undressed each other anyway,
Knowing they scolded us from behind closed doors.
