Obsequies/ Purlieus

Obsequies

hide away and
be my quiet beat

cloaking pain from
winters recede

burying my blind
amour that bleeds

to die from want
on a noose of need.

thy lips have cracked
and frozen shut

thy passion has faded
from lack of trust

to covered ears my
grief falls as bane

thy internal rot
cascades as acidic rain.

broken sands purge
slivers of oyster grains

fragments of hope
reflect shimmering stains

razor brooks flood
dreams of golden hooks

silken tears scream
as jagged silver crooks.

silent redemption
walks with disdain

quatrain refrain sustains
complacent pang

an invisible life hand
in hand with plain.

Purlieus

Letting you in
was my greatest sin,

pushing you away
would have been
heaven from begin.

I casted my scars
upon your tears,

so we both could
slay the fears of
our trepidatious years.

I dreamed of you before
your whisper wept,

now I'm spent
within a hole of regret,

silvery vines steal my
breath into your heart
I was never meant to rest.
