Chalk Outline
They were both artists painting their hearts.
He sketched her in chalk
And
she drew him with charcoal.
After the storm and the rain
the chalk washed away
but
the charcoal left it's mark forever.

I interpret this as her love for him being permanant, while his was temporary.
