In Between the Pages
The city lights call my name,
But without you things would
Never be the same.
You always understood
The bad and ugly parts of me
When no one else knew I was
Pretending. They could not see
The hangover and the buzz
I was feeling when I woke up
All alone. If only people knew
The real contents in the cup
I was drinking from. It was you
That helped me bounce back
And realize that everything
Is not perfect. Every crack
You saw through. The sting
Stopped hurting. I was becoming
Someone new. You were doing
More than just thumbing
Through me. You were viewing
The index and reading from
Cover to cover. I am not a crumb.
