ODE TO MARIE
(Written for a dating site contact, a Frenchwoman, who left the site after a kind goodbye to me. This was inspired by her profile picture taken looking over a rock by sea.)
Oh Marie, you look so lovely
In picture of you by the sea.
The sun falls lightly on your skin,
Your smile warms my heart deep within.
Your curly brown hair crowns your head.
You look as if you have just changed
Into a costume for a swim
In the sea, watched over by Him.

I wrote that in one of my (English) messages to her, she did not have much English and I not much French. I shared quite a lot about where I lived because she had not heard of my nearest town.
