Meteorite

I hadn't seen one in years
slicing Libra's new moon darkness
to reveal Scorpio's light

I'd always wished for peace
Universal happiness, Love
some altruistic gift
for the world

Not this time;
this time
I straddled the flame
rode bareback
until we both burnt out

this time I Believed
in a miracle
a financial windfall

a country house modernized
into open togetherness
strays in need living
out their lives healthy

skylit art studio of
drawing and photography

walk-in tub for a Pirate
and his mermaid to play
in the lagoon of their island

white barn wall
for a movie screen
'Pirates of the Caribbean'
or 'One Night with the King'

'Serendipity's figure eight
'French Kiss' and wine, maybe

fire pit and over-sized
flannel blanket, quiet
under showers of meteorite

Wishing nothing more
for the remainder of days

except to make a difference
where hopelessness remains

For we, too, in this strange land
once felt displaced as aliens

~

Italics reference, Exodus 22:21
