Sweet Venus
Aphrodite,
Patient and kind
Come closer
And witness my pitiful heart unwind.
These thorns at last are losing their hold
Come wait and watch my frail veils unfold
As your lonely viola dares to bloom
Where prettiest red roses have met
Their petal-plucked doom.
You're the Sappho of my dreams
Reciting Cupid's resurrection to me
To this skeletal heart hope nurtures in vain
In my unworthy flesh, carve your name
In its putrid streams your love will always hold sway
Nymph, dance towards me now
My perfectly imperfect angel
Be my fair Leda
And I'll be your psychotic, lustful swan
Crown me the emperor of your heart, my sweet
You came, you saw,
and you conquered me
I'll be your effeminate Ares
Your night-time Apollo
When your dove falls prey to my raven's talons
There's no telling what mischief will follow.
You're my goddess in chains
The trembling beauty I'm reborn to obey
No monsters will have you, save for me
So name a constellation depicting my lips at your feet
Finger paint our tale into the stars for eternity
And they'll sing, pretty thing
Sweet Venus and her Adonis are watching
Patient and kind
Come closer
And witness my pitiful heart unwind.
These thorns at last are losing their hold
Come wait and watch my frail veils unfold
As your lonely viola dares to bloom
Where prettiest red roses have met
Their petal-plucked doom.
