We Were Young Once
We were young once
The wind called our names
The sun forever smiled upon us
Scraped knees were terrible foes
That could be vanquished
With a bandage and
A gentle brush of lips
Summers dragged on
But forever we wanted more
Night air smelled sweet
And clouds were graceful passersby
Scuffs and scrapes
All forgotten in a moment
Swingsets meant flying
Neverland was but a wish away
Nostalgia soars bringing
Bittersweet air to rest in our lungs
It was never that great
Always much better in daydreams
Yes, we were young once
The wind called our names
The sun forever smiled upon us
Scraped knees were terrible foes
That could be vanquished
With a bandage and
A gentle brush of lips
Summers dragged on
But forever we wanted more
Night air smelled sweet
And clouds were graceful passersby
Scuffs and scrapes
All forgotten in a moment
Swingsets meant flying
Neverland was but a wish away
Nostalgia soars bringing
Bittersweet air to rest in our lungs
It was never that great
Always much better in daydreams
Yes, we were young once
