This Story is True- In That It Is Not

Imagine, if you will,
the heart of a god.
Flung far by flayer's bow,
center of ashen slopes,
Imagine that godly heart.

Deep-priests found this heart,
whilst digging after their art,
and round it a city did make.
The Deepmen, all godless by nature,
sought to craft a god of their own.
with Brass, and steam, and the Godly heart.

But Dissident folk from far south and west,
saw heresy in the shallow Deepmen's chests,
and despite friendship forged in the ash,
fought and cut with sword and axe.

No shaped-god of brass,
and ungodly artifice,
would be allowed by the lords,
of that ashy land.

And so marched the armies,
of the Slave-Lord and king,
lord of six houses and ash
whose mind and blade were sharpened roots.
And with him his two lovers
The Sixth Lord, and the Poet,
his wife the Snake-Face,
his teacher the Clockwork-Wizard.

On the slopes of the Reddened Mount,
reddened further with Deep-folk blood,
The Promised King into the Heart Chamber went,
with the Sixth Lord at his side.
On deepened death were they bent,
on rending Smith-Priest hide.
They cleft and killed,
The Deep-Lord king,
and his Priestly Friend,
but not before that self same priest,
brought the Deepfolk to their end.

Amongst their scribbles,
and studied notes they found the mystical tools,
that when used could make one into a god.
So the Slave King,
to his traitor-love,
he set to guard whilst to his tribune he conferred.
Then whilst gone That Sixth Lord made himself a false God.

The tribune spoke  and said to use,
must these tools be put,
but convey with heaven the Slave King said,
we must before we commit.

Then in His absence
Foul Murder did his counselors plan.
The Poet-Friend
The Snake-Faced Wife
The Clockwork-Tutor
Traitors all.

They returned to the chamber and began the ritual,
but twisted the three had made it,
with poisoned candles,
and poisoned robes,
and poisoned invocations.
They murdered the king they Loved.

They took the tools and ascended to a sickly divinity
the three Thief-Gods
and their Sixth-Lord enemy.

Traitors all to this tragic family.
