Night Watch
From the helm of his mighty ship
oft to dreamland, he did slip
to fight our battles upon the sea
and keep from harm, both you and me
For you see, it is his plight
to guard us all though out the night
and he shall be a forthright man
a righteous soul, will be his stand
Let not a rogue or pirate creep
not on his watch, within his sleep
for king and queen he will protect
unbridled bravery, he does project
His musket, cannons and sharp edged sword
save many damsels, in lands of yore
then add to this his blunderbuss
and hand to hand, in which he trusts
He sails the seas in search of wrongs
steadfast belief, is now his song
his justice, they can not escape
not in the night, while not awake
Is this not what we wish our sons
to fight all evil and not to run
But, if we first teach ways of peace
then perhaps..........a restful sleep
For all our sons and grandsons, the last two lines, are what I pray.
