Demon - 10/7/91

The murky waters
deep within
parted.  
Ripples slowly spread
outward until they reached
the far shore,
reverberating back
to attack
their fellows.
He slipped away
unconscious of the chaos
left behind.
He had
business above
which could not
wait.
Silently sliding through
the corridors
of my mind.  
He sulked through
the dusty halls
towards a long
forgotten goal.  
Alarms began to sound!  
I couldn't let him
reach his goal.  
If he got there
I would be
totally destroyed.  
I thought I had
hid it so well
and yet he knew
right where to go.  
He knew all
of my secrets
and I hated him
for it.  
Why couldn't he
just leave me alone
and let
the suffering end?  
Every day I woke up
with him there
to remind me
of my past.  
Every night
I went to sleep
with his words
twisting in my mind.
My soul seared
by the blazing inferno
that was his
vocabulary.
