Don't Mind Dyin

Don’t Mind Dyin

Wide eyed thinking about being alone
On a battle field so far from my home
My wife is working all of the time
No matter the dreams I can’t get her off my mind
God only knows how I want to see my little boys
To just sit and watch them play with toys

I am to proud to be forgotten
I’m an American and I don’t mind dyin
Just keep your American flag outside flying
And never forget the folks on the other side fighting

I don’t know why God picked this life for me
But if I don’t make it home do this one thing for me
Don’t let my name fade into black and grey
Tell my sons how much I love them everyday

I am to proud to be forgotten
I’m an American and I don’t mind dyin
Just keep your American flag outside flying
And never forget the folks on the other side fighting

I know a lot of men that came here and never got to leave
It’s the cost they paid for you to be free
Some were single some had kids and wives
But they never hesitated to risk their lives
We were put in a bad situation
Watching his back was my only obligation

I am to proud to be forgotten
I’m an American and I don’t mind dyin
Just keep your American flag outside flying
And never forget the folks on the other side fighting

We were brothers from all that we had been through
He said hang with me and I’ll hang with you
He asked if God would understand what we do
Why we took the lives of folks that never new
I said when we get to heaven I guess we’ll see
Until then it’s just you and me
