I'd Rather Be Alone

I'd rather be alone
Because I don't get included.

I'd rather be alone
Than to allow anyone to hurt me.

I'd rather be alone
Than to feel like the outcast I am.

It doesn't matter though
Because no matter how hard I try
To isolate myself
The hurt feelings still surface.

I'd rather be alone
And hide my tears from the world.

I'd rather be alone
Than to let anyone control my darkest moments.

I'd rather be alone
Than letting others see the beast within.

I can hurt others how they hurt me
Or lash out when I'm hurting
But that's just not who I am
I am a lover that wants to feel loved!

Great poem ExoticDreamer. Reading this, I think it probably would help discussing your anxiety with a trusted friend. Some people are capable of understanding or sympathy. Sometimes it's enough to 'say it' as you have done here. I often think it is the sheer weight of life moving forward that people have difficulty with. We sometimes want the world to stop, maybe just for an hour or a day but it never does. Expectations continue, survival too etc.

Thanks for your kind words. Yes we often want to stop time just for a little while but it never does. I do have a few friends that I do talk about everything with.
