A Mother's Duty
It was her duty as a mother, her obligation to care for the child.
But the love came unconditionally as she was told it would.
The love saturated her very being and lit her path.
The needs of the child came first and the sacrifice second nature.
Her exhaustion was masked by smiles of joy and awe at the miracle she bore.
The days passed in a magnificent blur and the mother lost herself within them.
The child thrived, but the mother forgot how to live inside of her own love.
