If We Were Trees

If we were trees
You would be blooming
As lively as in the spring
And I.. just entering an Autumn.

We would have met in winter
Just after weathering a storm
Each in a different state

But somehow our roots would intertwine
We would be connected
Our lives influenced
One by the other.

Over the years...
Living
Surviving
Flourishing

Over the years...
I have watched you
Grow taller
Grow stronger
Your leaves grow greener
Your trunk thicker

I have seen you..
Weather storms
Blown from side to side
The color of your leaves...
Fade slowly, shrivel
Branches dry up and fall
Take the rain
Take pain

And yet you still stand tall.
Soak up the sun.
Grow branches anew
Live through the fall.
Colors grow vibrante

As for Me..
My roots have grown stronger
My trunk has leaned
Has fallen
Has weathered many storms
All by your side.

Though intertwined
Facing different storms
Different droughts
Different events

But together
 We have grown
We have flourished
We have experienced life..

What more can one ask for?
What more is there than
To experience life together
