Reminiscing Fall

Fall, it used to be my favorite time of the year.
The feeling of being complete just from having you here.
Each tree outside losing every single leaf is a reminder of you and me.
Each falling leaf representing every individual memory.
Our night walks, our car talks, and even the awkward silence when I was embracing your presence.
I looked at you as if you were a God's gift, his little hand wrapped present.
The way your eyes shined when they were hit by moon light.
It was as if, for the first time in my life, things were going right.
It's Fall again, just the beginning of September.
It's you, my gift, that I'll remember.

When October comes, and Halloween shows it's face.
I'll turn the lights off and sit in my dark, empty place.
Instead of Halloween, it'll be muffling my internal screams.
Because I know for a fact the only way I'll get to spend it with you is in my dreams.
So, I'll lie to my friends and tell them I'm over you, and that I'm perfectly fine.
Knowing damn well I'm not because you WERE mine.
