Devil Incarnate
Seducing you with kind words ...
The devil that she hides in an angel's wings
Lips that kiss with caring and loving words
Dress to be kind but harmful just the same
Heart that is full of jealousy and insecurities
Always envious of someone's good fortune
That's eating up what little good soul she has
Trying hard to be kind and good at all times
Meaning to care but ends up hurting a soul
They only seem to notice her naughty sides
That self-distraction is always easier to think.
In the process she harms the people that care,
The people she cares about without meaning to.
This crazy mind of hers thinks a lot.
Evil thoughts running around in her mind
Crashing down on her oftentimes.
She is the devils incarnate... don't trust her.

I liked it because it made me smile (even laugh a little inside). A deconstruction of human behavior going beyond the - by now - simplistic opposition between good and evil. Uncovering many aspects that form a self whose intentions are to project a good image without having a clear understanding of what good, or goodness is. And this because, good or goodness (as everything else) do not exist in themselves. And the poem hints, that we have to create it, define it and then choose it every single moment. And, this tends to be extremely hard to do. The poem's character, appears to want to be "good", but, it's a lot easier not to be. And, that's the comedy in human existence.
