Ode to the trees
I didn't want to come. I didn't. I remember
when you kept me hidden from my tears,
soaking them up as you shielded me from the sun.
And when you pierced the sky, she wept for us.
I've missed you, but I didn't want to come.
You're strength, so deeply rooted,
even the earth could not move you. Nobody could.
Small and trembling, you sheltered me
with sunkissed needles and open arms.
I used to love the way you danced for me and the sky is still so blue.
More blue than my eyes could ever be.
